well, something I discovered in undergraduate school that I often remind myself of now that I'm back in school again:

I'll only get as much out of my education as I put into it.

This is true of anything in life, really. But once you get to undergrad and beyond, it's really up to you to get the most out of your education. Don't wait for somebody else to do it for you/give it to you.

Also, manage your time well--if you can. As an undergrad, I spent too many afternoons watching MTV and screwing around with my friends when I could've been in the library reading.

    Just my measley two cents.....

As much as you tell yourself that your going to be completely serious about your studies, you'll always do your homework, blah, blah, blah...you won't.

You've just been released on your own into a place with tons of other "adults" in the same situation. You are going to party and have fun and flake out...

So...take classes you need (obviously, don't waste your money)...but take classes that aren't going to need your full attention 12 hours a day (like...a 300 level Physics class - yes, it can be done...but I don't recommend it).

The first semester is always the hardest...but the most fun...enjoy it.

Now 2-yr, 4-yr degress are important...but dont kill yourself with classes to make that qouta. You came out of highschool you know what you can and cannot handle. Freshman year is tough, its a higher lvl of work and teachers in collge may not want the same work you produced in highschool. Work like that might give you a C (-.-). Pace yourself... separate work with play..make firends who you can realte with. When you can make out your own schedual, put times you want.if you dont want to do algebra at 6PM..make a 11am or so. Also try not to fill up your week with classes, make a day with no class. I prefere a friday or monday (4-day weekend ^_^ ). That way with a day off you can catch up on work, study, or do a parttime job if you want. College is just a start, enjoy it while you can because most jobs wont let you choose what times are good for you.
